DAMN, IT’S MAY???

Damn, it’s May??? I just realized I haven’t checked in since January…I’ve been busy. If you haven’t been out to see Jesse and Brian, the new band guys, you’re not that cool. We’ve had some killer shows lately…made our triumphant return to Workplay in Birmingham. You fine folks never let us down. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I had my first number one single at radio with “Another Song Nobody Will Hear.” I guess someone (or a few someones) heard it. Thanks to Texas/Red Dirt radio for making it #1 two weeks in a row and a BIG thanks to my friend Wade Bowen for singing it with me. Glad you guys dug it and I appreciate all of you who come sing us and sing it back to us. RockBoat was a blast. Loved getting to hang with Brandi Carlile, if you don’t know her stuff go get it. She’s a badass. Speaking of badasses, another big thanks to Gary Alan for having us out to play with him at The Ryman a couple weeks ago. Gary and all his guys are great, killer show and I’ll jump at any chance to go play the mother church of country music.

As some of you may have seen, I recently lost the ACM Award for “Song Of The Year.” I have now lost the CMA Award, the Grammy and the ACM Award…I believe this gives me the dubious distinction of being the first man to “win” what we are calling the “Triple Frown Award.” In all seriousness, it IS an honor to be nominated and I can’t thank the fine folks at the ACMs enough for taking such great care of us. I didn’t walk away empty handed, I got a bad ass nominee gift bag which I promptly gave to my wife and it earned me a trip to the blackjack table. That’ a winner for all involved.

Before I sign off of here, there’s one more update. The new record is done. We’re finishing some mixes, but stay tuned and you’ll be hearing more REALLY soon. I CAN tell you we debuted a song called “Never Give In” the other night in Birmingham and, if you show up to a show and the mood catches us right, you might hear some new stuff trickle out. Thanks to all you folks who care about my music, I can’t wait to share it with you.
